According to the police, the uncle of the rape survivor lodged a case stating that the accused, identified as Ravi Meena, raped the girl on Sunday evening.
"My niece had gone to fetch water from a handpump when the accused forcibly pushed her inside a nearby room. He locked the girl inside and raped her.
On hearing cries, people gathered outside the room. Seeing people, the accused opened fire and managed to flee," said a police officer quoting the FIR lodged by the girl's uncle.
The girl was also sent for medical examination. "We have constituted a team which is conducting raids to arrest the accused," said Rajesh Singh, superintendent of police, Dholpur.
In the second incident, an 8-year-old girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances under a bridge in Sewar town of Bharatpur district.
The family of the girl stated that she was abducted by unknown assailants on Sunday afternoon. "We have sent the body for post-mortem examination. Only after the report comes, we would know if the girl was also raped," said an officer of Sewar police station.
"Prima facie, it appears that the girl was raped before being killed. But anything can be said with confirmation only after we get the autopsy report," said Satyanaryan, deputy superintendent of police, Bharatpur (rural).
