8-Year-Old Girl Raped, Murdered by Neighbour
MEERUT: An eight-year-old girl in Shamli's Chaushana village was raped and murdered by a neighbour on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. The accused has been arrested and has confessed, cops said.
According to Jhinjhana police station police under which the police station falls, the minor used to go to the accused's house to watch television as her family could not afford one.
Taking advantage of the situation, on the night of the incident, the accused stole into the girl's house, woke her up and asked her to come and watch TV with him. The unsuspecting girl followed him to his house, where she was allegedly raped. But when she started bleeding, he decided to kill her to cover up his crime, He cleaned his house and dumped her body in an agricultural field 50 meters away.
A police officer said, "The slain girl used to go in her neighbour's place to watch television. The accused was living alone as his wife had given birth to a baby. On Friday night, the girl returned home after watching TV till 11 pm. The next morning she was not found in her bed. He family raised an alarm and villagers gathered and started a search for the girl. After some time, they found her body dumped into the bushes a few yards from her house. The informed the police."
SO of Jhinjhana RN Singh Yadav said, "The girl was strangled with her salwar's string. After talking with the family, we got a clue and we traced the accused. From his house, we recovered blood-stained clothes. Then we arrested him."
ASP VK Mishra said after a brief interrogation, the accused confessed his crime. Superintendent of police Vijay Bhushan said the accused has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
