Three girls gang raped and murdered

Three girls found dead in a village in India are feared to have been gang raped and murdered. The victims, aged 9, 13 and 18, were found together in a field with head and neck injuries.

The trio failed to return home after going out to nearby fields to collect fodder - leaves and plants that are fed to cattle - on Friday. Families of the girls told local news they suspected they had been gang raped and murdered.

Locals carried out searches overnight before the grim discovery was made the following day. All three come from the same village, Katiyari, in Uttar Pradesh's Deoria disctrict, in the east of the country.

Police in the region say they are awaiting the results of post mortems before deciding whether to launch a rape and murder investigation.

"The bodies bear head injury which seems to have caused the death. The case has been filed and we will look whether there was any sexual offence," said Manoj Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Deoria.



A seven-year-old girl was raped by her close relative at Juttada near Pendurthy on Friday.

The girl, studying at a government school was sent for medical tests and later admitted to the King George Hospital (KGH) in the city. The incident came to light on Saturday, when the victim’s relatives lodged a complaint against the accused.

M. Siva (20), the accused, who lives next to the victim’s house, lured the girl with an ice-cream and took her to his house and raped her on Friday morning.

The parents of both the victim and the accused were away from their homes at the time of the incident, according to Pendurthy inspector K. Lakshmana Murthy.

The victim’s grandmother noticed a wound on her private parts on Friday afternoon and alerted her parents.

When her mother questioned her, the girl revealed that she was abused by Siva.

The victim’s parents approached the police after the colony elders tried to suppress the incident.

A 41 year old man has been arrested for the rape of a six-year-old girl in King William’s Town.


Police spokesperson Captain Jackson Manatha said it was alleged the child came from school on Friday when her mother noticed that something was wrong with her.

“The mother enquired from the victim and she was told by her daughter that she was raped by a local man at about 3pm on Friday while on her way home at Location Nqadu Village in Willowvale,” said Manatha.

“A case of rape was registered with Willowvale Police Station on Friday. The suspect was arrested on the same day.”


Four persons have been arrested for raping two teenagers whom they befriended on a social networking site.
Senior police officers said the accused first approached the girls on a prominent social networking site, following which they exchanged their cellphone numbers.
On Thursday, one of the accused asked the girls to come to a lake in South Kolkata. From there, they were taken to another location where the crime was committed.
“The four accused were arrested from different parts of the city on Friday night,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Suburban Division) Santosh Pandey told The Hindu on Saturday.
Among the four accused, two are claiming to be minors.
In March last year too, a teenage girl was raped by a person whom she met on a social networking site.
Jadavpur student alleges rape

Meanwhile, a girl student of the city’s Jadavpur University claimed that she was raped by three students of the university.

An FIR has been registered. As per the complaint, the incident took place at around 9.30 p.m. on Friday during a fest on the university campus.

GURGAON: A 19-year-old girl from Delhi was gang-raped by a 'tantrik' and his accomplice in Sohna on Friday on the pretext of treating her for epilepsy. An FIR was lodged on Saturday. The accused are on the run.

According to the complaint, the survivor, a resident of Delhi'in Delhi, and her uncle had gone to Sohna to meet the tantrik, Hasan, to treat her for epileptic fits.

Hasan agreed to treat the girl and asked her uncle to wait. He and called an accomplice, identified as Irshad. He told the uncle he would have to take the girl to another place to treat her.

The survivor said the tantrik and his accomplice took her to a secluded place and took turns to rape her. Her uncle became suspicious and started searching for her. Hours later, he found her on the road, her clothes tattered. He asked tried asking her what was wrong but could not make out, since the girl was in shock.

He then took her home - where she narrated what had happened - and brought her to police on Saturday. A medical examination confirmed rape.

"We have lodged an FIR of gang rape, and against the quack and his accomplice. We are conducting raids to nab the accused," Sukhbir Singh, ACP, Sohna, said.

The alumni of Fort Convent, St Anne's High School, nuns and residents of Colaba and Fort gathered near Radio Club on Saturday evening for a peace march protesting against the gang-rape of a 72-year-old nun in West Bengal's Nadia district.
Almost 700 people, bearing candles, walked from Radio Club till the Fort Convent school.
