CHANDIGARH: Haryana police on Wednesday arrested four youths for raping a married Dalit woman in Jind district while two of their accomplices are yet to nabbed. The woman, a native of Harsola village in Kaithal district, was gang-raped by six youths on Monday night. The 30-year-old woman had come to Roopgarh village in Jind district to meet her relatives when the car-borne youths abducted and raped her in nearby fields.
Among the arrested youths, Chander Shekhar, Manoj and Sandeep belong to Kandela village of Jind district while Sunny is from neighbouring Shahpur village. They were sent to two-day police remand by a local court on Wednesday. Jind deputy superintendent of police Jai Parkash told TOI that the accused were in the age group of 20-25 years and some of them were working as taxi drivers.
A 16-year-old was gang-raped by three men in Sector 86 here, the police said on Wednesday.
The incident took place on Monday afternoon, when one of the accused, who was known to the minor, asked her to come with him to discuss an important matter.
He drove her to a flat in Sector 86 on the pretext of showing it to her and gang-raped her along with the others.
Two of the accused were nabbed on Tuesday, Investigating Officer Basant Chauhan said, adding that the police was on the lookout for the third accused
