Pune: A 27-year-old painting labourer was arrested on Saturday for raping a five-year-old girl in a bungalow in Chatushrungi area.
The Chatushrungi police identified the suspect as Munna Ramnath Yadav, who lives in Bopkhel, but hails from Uttar Pradesh. Police said the incident took place on Saturday afternoon. The suspect lured the girl, the daughter of the security guard of the bungalow, on the pretext of giving her chocolates and raped her.
"The incident came to light after the girls' parents saw her coming out of the room. She was bleeding. They immediately nabbed Yadav and handed him over to the police," a police officer said.
Yadav has been charged under section 376 (rape) of the IPC and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from the Sexual Offences Act.
In another incident, a 45-year-old man from Bihar has been booked for sodomising a two-year-old boy in Shindewadi on February 2. Police said the suspect and the boy's family live in the same neighbourhood. "The boy was playing with his friends in the area when the suspect took him to his room and sodomised him. The boy's mother rushed to the suspect's room when she heard the boy crying. She alerted other neighbours and nabbed the suspect," a senior officer said.
The boy's parents alleged that initially, police did not register their complaint due to which the suspect managed to run away.
