CHANDIGARH: Police interrogation of the accused arrested in connection with the gang rape and murder of a 28-year-old Nepalese woman in a village in Rohtak district has revealed chilling details. The nine accused in the case had gang-raped the woman for three hours and later killed her by using bricks and inserting pieces of asbestos sheets into her private parts. The accused took turns to rape the woman even when she was unconscious.
Special investigation team chief Amit Bhatia said police were interrogating accused Rajesh alias Ghuchadu, Sunil alias Sheela, Sarvar alias Billu, Manbir, Sunil alias Madha, Pawan, Parmod alias Padam (all residents of Khedi Gaddi village in Rohtak district) and Santosh (a native of Nepal who lives in the same village).
The ninth accused, Sombir, had fled to a Delhi after the crime and later committed suicide hours after the arrest of the others in the case on February 9.
According to police officials, when the woman reached Khedi Gaddi around 7 pm on February 1, five of the nine accused were having liquor at a roadside 'hotel'.
"They spotted the woman when she crossed the hotel," said a source close to the investigators. "They followed her and ultimately caught her. Meanwhile, two more youths reached there. They then took her to a room situated in the fields. The youths started raping the woman and called two more friends by making phone calls to them. They also joined them in her sexual exploitation."
After some time, the accused realized the room was too close to the national highway since vehicle lights were reaching them. "Then they shifted the woman to another room situated in the nearby fields," the source said. "Here, they kept raping her even after she fell unconscious."
The accused were scared the woman would inform the police about the crime and they would be arrested. "Then they decided to kill her," said the source. "They took her to the fields of neighbouring Bahu Akbarpur village, where they killed her by using bricks. To ensure her death, they even inserted pieces of asbestos sheets."
The doctors who conducted the postmortem also found pieces of condoms and a stick inside the woman's private parts. The woman's body had been found on February 4.
