A case has been lodged against Singh for rape and also under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, and a search was on for him, police added.
VADODARA: A 14-year-old girl was gangraped and murdered in the jungle near a village in the Santrampur taluka of Mahisagar district.
The four accused hung the girl's body from a tree to pass on the incident as a suicide. But the survivor's 12-year-old sister had witnessed the entire crime.
On January 14, the four persons waylaid the two sisters who had gone to the jungle near their village Kosamba to collect firewood. They raped the 14-year-old girl. They then strangled the victim and hanged her body from a tree using her 'dupatta'. Her sister who had witnessed the event ran from the spot and was chased by the accused who also threatened to kill her. She informed her parents who approached the police on Wednesday evening.
The post-mortem confirmed the sexual assault and murder after which the offence was registered on Thursday.
Four youths - Nilesh Sankal Dindor, his brother Vikram Sankal Dindor, Ashwin Uda Dindor and Prakash Uda Dindor - were named as accused. Sources said that the survivor's sister knew them as they stayed in the same village.
They were booked for murder, rape and threatening to kill under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act by the Santrampur police.
