Teenage rapist used Facebook to groom and abuse young girls in Lincolnshire
A teenager from Lincolnshire who "targeted and groomed" a string of under-age girls has been sentenced to eight years youth detention.
The boy, who is now 16, carried out sexual offences against five young girls over a 17-month period when he was aged between 14 and 16, Lincoln Crown Court heard.
His victims, who can not be named for legal reasons, were aged between 12 and 15, the court was told.
Grace Hale, prosecuting, said the boy chatted with some of the girls on Facebook and encouraged them to send him pictures of their breasts.
Miss Hale told the court two of the girls were encouraged to perform a sexual act on the boy while another admitted having under-age sex with him.
In a statement which was read out in court one of the victims described how afterwards she felt "horrible, used, scared and worried."
Caroline Bradley, mitigating, said the boy had been badly bullied by his peers at school and found it easier to mix with younger children.
Miss Bradley told the court he was a bright boy who worked hard within his family and understood what he had done was wrong.
The boy, who can not be named because of his age, admitted ten sexual offences including two charges of rape, assaulting a child aged under-13, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and inciting a child to be involved in pornography.
He was made the subject of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order and must also register as a sex offender.
Passing sentence Judge Michael Heath ruled that he regarded the boy as "dangerous" but said he would not make an extended sentence because of his age.
Judge Heath told him: "You targeted and groomed girls, and indulged in persistent pestering of these girls because of their age, by social media and other means."
